Scoop N Dough Candy Co. Brings Sweet Treats to Roberts Alley

Scoop N Dough Candy Co. Brings Sweet Treats to Roberts Alley

By Katie Spokely

Downtown Fargo has a sweet tooth, and Scoop N Dough Candy Company plans to be the shop of every dessert-lover’s dreams.

The business will be moving into Roberts alley this spring, and owner Josh Ulrich says he can’t wait to bring an old fashioned-style sweet shop to downtown Fargo. Don’t be fooled by its plan for a nostalgic atmosphere, though; its unique menu will be far from ordinary.

Classic options will include a wide variety of hard serve ice cream flavors, as well as malts, shakes and sundaes. One thing Ulrich is clear about is that he’s keeping the ice cream serving sizes old-school, “They’re going to be very generous,” he says.

While the “scoop” in Scoop N Dough’s name relates to its ice cream selection, the “dough” refers to the array of edible cookie dough flavors that the shop will offer. Yes, the dessert trend sweeping through cities and Instagram feeds everywhere will finally be available in Fargo.

If you prefer salty over sweet, or enjoy a little of both, Scoop N Dough’s specialty popcorn    will satisfy all of your cravings. Every fresh-popped flavor, from caramel, to cheese, to classic salt and butter, will be available for you to eat in the shop or take home in hand-sealed bags.

Ulrich says that he hopes the shop will not only offer a piece of nostalgia to those visiting, but will be a place for families and people of all ages to create new memories. When asked about his motivations for starting the business and locating it downtown, he explained:

“When I think back to my childhood, I remember all the fun associated with a huge ice cream cone from the ice cream shop, the smell of fresh caramel corn, or sneaking my mom’s cookie dough. I wanted to see a shop where families and people of all ages can go and get something that they love and I believe it will benefit the community. I hope it’ll    be a great compliment to its neighbors, where people can stop by for dessert after dinner at nearby restaurants, and just hang out in the alley. The downtown scene in Fargo is exciting, with all of the new development happening, new businesses, and people of all ages, and I think Scoop N Dough Candy Co. will be a great fit for the area!”

The grand opening is set to occur in spring of 2018. Ulrich also plans to launch a Scoop N Dough Candy Co. food truck that will bring sweet treats to events and locations throughout the Fargo-Moorhead area. The menu will likely expand to include other types of sweets before the opening, so he’s eager to develop those ideas and offer customers even more options to satisfy their sweet tooth.

“The products are going to be unique, there will be a ton of flavors, and it will be a really fun atmosphere. I’m excited to get to be a part of the downtown business community, serve customers, and have a positive impact in the area.”
