Dakotah Block

The Dakotah Block is a commercial building located at the heart of downtown Fargo at the intersection of Broadway and 2nd Avenue North. The Dakotah Block is currently home to the Silver Lining Creamery, Wasabi, and Poke Bowl.

Dakotah Block was built in 1893 on the corner of Second Avenue North and Broadway on the foundation of the Pinkham Block, which was destroyed in the Fargo Fire of earlier that year. Dakotah Block was refaced in 1899 after it was partially destroyed by another fire.

Wasen Guard Furniture Dealers occupied the building at that time. D.I. Ames Furniture Store occupied the building around 1905 according to NDSU archives. Later, Fargo Plumbing and Heating Company occupied the building from 1910-1922, according to historic Sanborn maps.

The building later occupied by two convenient stores. According to Fargo City directories, Osco Drug occupied the space from 1965 to 1978. The latest tenant in the building was Metro Drug, who occupied the building from 1983-2015.
