Jackson Reclaimed: City Center Gets New, Old Name

The City Center Apartments at 416 2nd Avenue North in downtown Fargo, have a new name. A new old name, that is.

One of Kilbourne Group’s values is to respect the past. The City Center building has reassumed its original name the “Jackson Building” to honor the 99-year-old structure and its original owners, A.S. Hogan and Carl O. Anderson. According to the NDSU digital archives, the building was constructed in 1916 and was known as the Jackson Building until the late 1980s or early 1990s, when it was named the City Center Apartments.

Karen Bakke has painted the name Jackson on the south facing wall of the building, bringing a bit more art into downtown. Kilbourne Group believes that vibrant downtowns create smart, healthy cities. We hope the addition of this mural adds to the vibrancy of downtown Fargo, inspiring creativity for the future.
