OWN IT: Prairie Roots Food Cooperative Capital Campaign Makes Headway

Prairie Roots Food Cooperative, Fargo’s first member owned cooperative grocery store, is closing in on a milestone in its capital campaign. Memberships and donations will allow Prairie Roots to open its doors in downtown Fargo by the end of 2016.

More than $70,000 has been raised toward the Burgum family matching grant of $100,000. Doug Burgum, founder of Kilbourne Group, announced his family’s contribution at 1 Million Cups on October 30.

Interest and commitment from the community have been strong, and Prairie Roots is on track to meet its goal of $1.1 million raised by year end.

The 7th Annual 100-Mile Thanksgiving Market is a celebration of the local harvest and a great way to support local farmers. It will be held Tuesday, November 24 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at Concordia College’s Knutson Campus Center Atrium.

OWN IT at ecce will take place Tuesday, November 24 from 7 to 9 p.m., after the Holiday Lights Parade in downtown Fargo. Enjoy some festive gluhwein and snacks while you learn what it means to be a member of Prairie Roots Food Cooperative.
